Elmer Treatment Works improvements

Elmer Treatment Works improvement

We continue to progress the works at our Elmer Treatment Works in Leatherhead to maintain and improve the efficiency and resilience of the site and to keep high quality water flowing to customers’ taps.

So far, we have been concentrating on the following areas:

  1. Demolition work on the redundant Enelco filters, including the removal of a large Archimedes screw. This work is being carried out to enable a new sand settlement tank to be built and to make space for new chemical dosing equipment and control panels. We are nearing completion.

  2. Progressing detailed design and ordering equipment that needs a long lead time for delivery. Key items on order include replacement CO2 strippers, chemical dosing equipment, sampling equipment, electrical panels and control equipment.

  3. Beginning preparations for the installation of pipework which will link two different supply areas to improve resilience in the network.

Other works will be carried out over the next 18 months which includes work to the pellet reactors which soften the water we treat. Therefore, the water will be slightly harder leaving the works until approximately March 2020.

Our aim is to complete these essential works with minimal disruption to our neighbours and thank you in advance for your co-operation and patience.

This page will be updated regularly to provide information on our progress and upcoming works.
