Geology of our supply area

Most of our water supplies comes from deep aquifers in the chalk of the North Downs or the large deposits of greensand south of the Downs. This groundwater is of a high quality, as it has been naturally filtered as it percolates through the rocks.

Our boreholes are sunk into these aquifers at depths of between 90 to 180 metres. The groundwater is pumped to the surface and to the nearest treatment works.
