Why is this work necessary?

The existing 6” mains which supply customers along White Down Lane and Critten Lane date back to the 1930’s. We have assessed, through analysis of recent failures, that they are coming to the end of their operational life and urgent replacement is required.

By installing a new 180mm polyethylene water main we will ensure that we continue to provide our customers with a high quality and reliable source of water for many years to come.

What does it involve?

The project will involve laying approximately 2.5 kilometres of 180mm main and connecting all properties to the new main along White Down Lane and Critten Lane.

Traffic management

The project will be split into three phases, which will run one after the other:

  • Phase one: White Down Lane

  • Phase two: Critten Lane (junction of Ranmore Common Rd to St Teresa’s School)

  • Phase three (2018): Beech Avenue (St Teresa’s School to A246)

Our delivery partner Clancy Docwra will be working 7:30am to 5pm Monday to Friday to complete these works in a timely manner.
