Setting up a payment plan


If you would like to set up a payment plan to spread the cost of your bill, simply call our Customer Services team on 01737 772000 Mon-Fri 8.30am to 5pm.

The frequency of your payments and amount you pay will depend on whether you have a measured (metered) or an unmeasured water supply.

Measured (metered) customers - Monthly Budget Payment Plan

Our Monthly Budget Payment Plan helps customers with water meters to spread the cost of their bills. The idea is that you pay a set sum each month to build up the right amount of credit to pay off your next bill when it arrives.

Monthly payments are based on how much water you have used in the previous twelve months, plus any outstanding debit or credit on your account. If you have just moved into your home or have just had a meter fitted, for the first year we base your monthly payments on the average use for the size of your household.

Once a year, we look at your account to make sure the monthly payments are keeping pace with your bills and whether we need to change the amount you are paying each month. We then send you a new plan telling you what your payments will be for the coming year.

You can make your monthly payments either by Direct Debit, in which case payment is spread over eleven months, or in cash using a Water Bill Payment card which spreads payment over twelve months. Four payment dates in the month are available: 1st, 8th, 15th or 22nd of each month. Please note the following conditions:

  • Budget Payment Plans will be reviewed annually and we will let your know if your budget needs to go up or down.
  • Once set, the monthly amount will not be altered until the next review.
  • If we don’t receive your payment by the due date, the arrangement will be cancelled and we will send you a notice for the whole amount owing at the time.

Unmeasured customers - Instalment Plan

You can pay your bill in two, six, or eight instalments. For two instalments, your payment must reach us by 1st April and 1st October each year. For six or eight instalments, your payment must reach us on the agreed due day of April to September (for six instalments) or April to November (for eight instalments). Four payment dates in the month are available: 1st, 8th, 15th or 22nd of each month.

Payment can be made in either cash using a Water Bill Payment card or by Direct Debit. Please note the following conditions:

  • If we don’t receive your payment by the due date, the arrangement will be cancelled and we will send you a notice for the whole amount owing at the time.
