Section 4: Water Regulations and Fittings

The Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 set legal requirements for the design, installation, operation and maintenance of plumbing systems, water fittings and water-using appliances. The Regulations have a specific purpose to prevent misuse, waste, undue consumption or erroneous measurement of water and, most importantly, to prevent contamination of drinking water. Water industry approved plumbers and contractors can be found at www.watersafe.org.uk. By using approved plumbers/contractors, connections can be completed in shorter timescales and you will not have to pay for any rectification work due to non-compliance with the Regulations.

We will require the plan of the pipework and fittings to be installed. Please e-mail this to network_services@waterplc.com

Section 4b: Fire Supplies

Please note that we cannot guarantee there will always be adequate water pressure for firefighting, as there are many other, often competing, demands for water. If this is a concern for large-scale developments, please consider on-site water storage as a contingency.
