Sutton and East Surrey Water

Our ongoing programme of replacement or refurbishment of water mains, whose condition has deteriorated, continues unabated.

More than 22 km (13.7 miles) of pipeline improvements were completed in the year to April 2010, and we plan to replace a further 24 km each year until 2015.

We are at the industry forefront in the use of trenchless technology and frequently use this method to repair and refurbish water mains in our supply area. 'Trenchless' engineering techniques do not require as much excavation and so are much quicker and less disruptive than traditional methods.
