Water Treatment Talk
Duration: one hour
How do they do that?
Watch dirty water become clean before your very eyes! This talk includes a practical demonstration and explains just how river water is treated to make it safe to drink. It is an excellent way to prepare pupils for a visit to Bough Beech Reservoir and Treatment Works, but can stand alone if a visit is not practical.
In this talk we:
- revise the Water Cycle
- find out why geology matters
- learn about bore holes as well as reservoirs
- discover why the reservoir is where it is
- explain and demonstrate the different processes that clean our water
The talk lasts an hour and is supported by an amusing powerpoint presentation featuring our cheeky cartoon characters Flow and Squirt!
You will also get a follow-up worksheet and a copy of our Teachers Resource Pack which is packed full of classroom based activities.
All our talks are designed for teachers, by teachers.
We look forward to seeing you!
